The Senior UX Designer will lead various design projects for Oak Armor’s eConsult and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, integrating AI to create effective, user-centered solutions for healthcare providers. This role will involve collaborating with UX research to ensure designs are based on user insights, and working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and data analytics. The Senior UX Designer will oversee the entire design process, from ideation through to delivery, ensuring discoverability, usability, and alignment with healthcare standards.

Responsibilities:

Design Leadership
  • Lead the design of the EMR system, ensuring alignment with product vision and user needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, researchers) to drive design vision and strategy that meets the needs of our users.
  • Define and communicate design strategy, ensuring the user experience is intuitive, effective, and adheres to healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries for consistency across products.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to optimize user flows and ensure seamless integration of AI features.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for development teams.
  • Ensure designs are scalable, user-centered, and meet business goals.
  • Guide the design team through all stages of the design process, ensuring designs are actionable and well-documented.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure designs are accurately implemented.
 
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work with cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, AI, research) to balance technical constraints and user needs.
  • Present and advocate for design decisions, highlighting both user needs and business impact.
  • Leverage UX research to inform design solutions and validate ideas through user testing.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles within the team and across the organization, building a user-centric culture.

User Research & Testing:
  • Partner with UX researchers to identify key research objectives and test designs.
  • Conduct smaller, tactical research projects when needed to inform specific design decisions.
  • Analyze user feedback and data to iterate on and refine design solutions.

Documentation & Delivery:
  • Create clear design documentation (wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity mockups) that is actionable for development teams.
  • Ensure alignment between design and development timelines and facilitate design handoffs.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on UX trends, AI technologies, and healthcare advancements to ensure competitive, innovative products.
  • Advocate for best practices in UX design and contribute to continuous product improvements.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of UX design experience, preferably in healthcare or related fields, with a strong portfolio of enterprise-level designs.
  • Expertise in UX tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and InVision.
  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.
  • Experience collaborating with UX researchers to refine designs based on user insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for creating intuitive and accessible solutions.
  • Proficiency in managing design systems and design documentation.
 
Your Skills:

  • Experience designing EMR (Electronic Medical Record) or EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems.
  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows, regulations, and HIPAA standards.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML technologies in healthcare applications.
  • Previous experience in a startup or agile development environment.
